From the Pacific Northwest

This blog is coming to you from the great Pacific Northwest, Portland Oregon to be exact. I have been attending the Association of Professional Model Makers conference, this conference is held every two years. The Association of Professional Modelmakers is a relatively small association of people involved with the model making and rapid prototyping industry. The models can consist of architectural models, industrial models are even special models used in Hollywood special effect films. The rapid prototyping industry is relatively new, but it’s a fast growing industry focused on advancing the design, engineering and manufacturing processes. Using advanced computer software and 3D printers, it is now possible to create a fully operation model of a product in hours instead of days. 3D printers are now being used to produce production parts in large quantities. The use of 3D printers has even found their way into the medical industry and forensic sciences. The conference workshops take place during the day so the nights are open for other things like Bigfoot research. Before leaving Virginia for the trip, I made contact with several Bigfoot researchers I know in the Portland area. So far, I met with Ray Crow of the former International Bigfoot Society, we had a great meeting and discussed both past and current research in the Pacific Northwest. My good friend Joe Beelart was able to organize and participate in a small luncheon with David Mann and another researcher. I was also invited to participate in some late night Bigfoot research in an area called Spirit Mountain. This location was the same site where two witnesses observed a Bigfoot creature for ten minutes just the week before. Even though we didn’t witness any Bigfoot related activity during the night, it is a prime location for these Bigfoot creatures to live. Teacher and Bigfoot author, Thom Powel invited me to his home where we discussed some of the latest research and possible future research techniques. We spent the night around a roaring campfire talking about some of the local Bigfoot sightings and the some of the differences in East/West research techniques. Thom was able to hand off some Elk hair and possible Sasquatch hair for me to identify using my forensic equipment. I can’t wait to get back and start working on the microscope to identify the possible Sasquatch hair sample. The Elk hair will be cataloged and added to the increasing number of animal hair samples I have been collecting. Joe Beelart took time from his active schedule to show me areas that have had past and current Bigfoot sightings. We even had time to hike the woods and look for Sasquatch tracks, but the high mountain snow did limit our research to the lower altitudes. The mountains and views were incredible, I would recommend a trip to the Pacific Northwest if you can possible do it. I cannot express my appreciation enough to these researchers, they took time from their busy schedules to arrange meetings and research trips to areas that most Bigfoot researchers dream about. I can only hope that someday, these same researchers can travel to the East Coast so I can return the favor. Virginia does have some beautiful areas, but it really can’t compare the great Pacific Northwest.
